Vauxhall: previous owners, selling, and privacy settings

Last checked: 12 Oct 2026

Vauxhall's connected services: MyVauxhall app (MyVauxhall 2.0 rolling out), Vauxhall Connect ONE and Connect PLUS. Sellers use "Change of Owner" (My Garage → Remove Vehicle) and restore factory settings. Profiles default to Private Mode on the Astra.

Bought it used? Vauxhall's UK documents don't describe how a buyer removes a previous owner. Ask the seller to unlink the car using the steps below, or contact Vauxhall.

Selling: unlink and wipe

Change of OwnerWebsite
Connected services website → MY GARAGE → Remove Vehicle

Vauxhall's UK Connect ONE terms (which cover Vauxhall) say this stops the services and removes the car from your account. Also make sure your account is no longer linked to the car.

An app path in MyVauxhall or MyVauxhall 2.0 isn't documented.

Privacy and offline settings

Privacy settings (Astra)Astra (2026 handbook)
Settings app → Connectivity → Privacy settings

Set each profile to share data and location, share data, or private mode, where Vauxhall says connected services only process data locally in the car. The Guest and Driver profiles are set to private mode by default.

Also from the status bar. Emergency calling isn't affected. On some versions (Astra and Frontera) you can change privacy settings by pressing the breakdown and SOS buttons together in the overhead console.

Good to know

Not found in Vauxhall's public UK documents: A route for a buyer whose seller didn't remove the car, and an app path for removing a car. Only the Astra and Frontera handbooks were checked; older Vauxhalls (including OnStar-era cars) aren't covered. Menu paths can differ by model and software version; each one here is for the version its source names.
