LG TV User Agreements: which ones you need

Last checked: 14 Oct 2026

When you set up an LG smart TV, it asks you to accept several "User Agreements". LG says only two are needed to use apps such as Netflix and YouTube: the Terms of Use and the Privacy Policy. The rest are optional, and you can untick them at any time.

Where to find them

Settings → All Settings → Support → Privacy & Terms → User Agreements

This is the location in LG's manuals for TVs from 2021 onwards (webOS 6.0 to 26). LG says the menu may vary slightly by model. To withdraw an agreement, untick it and select Agree.

What each agreement does

LG publishes the full text of each agreement on its US and UK websites. The names differ slightly between the two countries. LG says an older TV may show an earlier version.

AgreementWhat it's forIf you untick it
Terms of Use and Privacy Policy
Required
Apps and other smart features.Apps stop working. LG says you can keep using the TV's regular features, such as watching through an aerial or a device plugged into it.
ACR and Viewing Information Agreement (US)
Viewing Information Agreement (UK)
Optional
Lets the TV recognise what's on screen, using a feature called ACR. LG uses this for recommendations and for Live Plus, its interactive on-screen features, which can include ads.Withdraws your consent. Also turn off Live Plus: the US agreement says a US "Do Not Sell" request on its own leaves Live Plus running until you turn it off. See what ACR is and how to turn it off.
Voice Information Agreement (US)
Voice Information (UK)
Optional
Voice commands. LG says the microphone is off by default until you accept this. A company called Nuance turns your voice commands into text. The US version says LG keeps voice information for 6 months; the UK version doesn't give a period.Voice commands stop working. See Is my TV listening?
Interest-Based & Cross-Device Advertising Agreement (US)
Interest-Based Advertisement Agreement (UK)
Optional
Ads chosen for you, on the TV and on other devices that share your home internet connection.Ads are no longer chosen for you. The US agreement says it doesn't affect ads that are based on what you're watching rather than on you.
Data Partners Agreement (UK only)
Optional
Only offered if you've accepted the Viewing Information Agreement and Live Plus is on. Lets LG share viewing and device information with the partner companies it names, to measure ads and audiences.LG stops that further sharing.
Marketing Communications Agreement
Optional
Marketing messages from LG, shown as notifications or pop-ups on the TV.You're unsubscribed.

What LG still receives if you decline all the optional ones

LG's US privacy policy says it still receives some information: details about the TV, which features, menus and apps you use, and the web addresses you visit in the TV's own web browser. It says it doesn't collect what you do inside other companies' apps.

Delete what's already been collected

On TVs from 2024 onwards (webOS 24, 25 and 26): Support → Privacy & Terms → Delete My Personal Information

From there you can choose Delete Viewing Information or Delete Voice Information. LG's 2026 manual says deleting voice information needs an internet connection and the Terms of Use to be accepted.

Agreements not showing?

LG says the User Agreements can't load without an internet connection. It also says they may not show properly if the TV's country setting doesn't match where you are. To check the country:
