Remove your home address from Companies House
Last checked: 19 Oct 2026
If you're a company director, your details are on the public Companies House register. Your home address only appears if you've used it as a correspondence (service) address or as the company's registered office, which is common in older filings. You can pay to have it removed.
What the public register shows
Companies House says it publishes directors' names, nationality, month and year of birth, and a service address. Your home address and full date of birth go on a private register, which credit reference agencies and some public bodies, such as the police, can see. Details stay for the life of the company, including after you resign.
Remove your home address from old filings
Use form SR01 (GOV.UK). It costs £34 per document. You list each document by type and date, pay online through GOV.UK Pay before sending, and post the form to The Registrar of Companies, PO Box 4082, Cardiff CF14 3WE (how to complete SR01). Companies House says a wrong fee means the application is rejected.
The same form can also remove the day of your birth from documents filed before 10 October 2015, your signature and your business occupation. Afterwards, Companies House says only the first half of the postcode shows.
Before you apply
- If you're still a director, give a different service address first.
- If your home is the company's current registered office, change the registered office first. Former registered office addresses can be removed (GOV.UK).
- If the company has been dissolved, GOV.UK says to wait six months.
At serious risk? Stop your address going to credit agencies
Directors and people with significant control who are at serious risk of violence or intimidation because of the company's activities can apply to stop their home address being shared with credit reference agencies. GOV.UK says it costs £100, and that since 11 August 2026 it's a paper form only: phone 0303 1234 500 to ask for one. You need evidence of the risk.
Copies on other websites
Companies House says it has no control over sites that copy the register, and you need to contact them directly. 192.com has its own removal form for its Companies House records: see people-search sites.
If you're setting up a company, use a service address from the start so your home never goes on the public register.
