LG PB6600 (2014)

Sizes: 50, 60″

Built-in far-field microphone

Unverified

Whether this model has a built-in microphone (beyond the remote) hasn't been confirmed from a citable source yet.

What a far-field mic does →

LG's own official spec sheet for this series lists full technical detail (audio, connectivity, cabinet) with no microphone or voice-remote row anywhere in it, unlike some flagship 2014 LG sets sold with a Magic Remote. That's suggestive of no built-in or bundled microphone on this specific mid-tier plasma, but the sheet never states this as an explicit limitation, so it stays unverified rather than turned into a firm "no" from an absence alone.

Automatic content recognition (ACR), including over HDMI

Runs ACR

This model runs LG's ACR feature (branded "Collection of watching info"), which analyzes on-screen content — including over HDMI — to identify what's playing.

What ACR is and how to turn it off →

This is the original 2013 investigation that first put LG Smart TV viewing-data collection in the news — arguably the direct historical predecessor to the story this whole site exists to check. It found a "Collection of watching info" toggle in the system settings, on by default, that kept transmitting a device ID and channel name to LG's servers in South Korea regardless of whether it was switched off (the outgoing packet just added a `watch_dvc_logging=0` flag). The investigation didn't name a specific model, but this LG Smart TV generation is the same NetCast-era platform LG's own PB6600 spec sheet advertises as "LG SMART TV" — the branded platform feature, not a claim about this model's specific hardware.

Scans your local network for other devices

Unverified

Local network scanning hasn't been confirmed for this model from a citable source yet.

How to put a TV on its own network →

The 2013 investigation into this same LG Smart TV generation also found USB file names being logged and sent to LG, but that's distinct from the newer, LG webOS-specific local-network device-scanning finding (Gamers Nexus/Level1Techs, 2026) cited on this site's current webOS entries — a different behavior on a different platform generation. Stays unverified for this claim specifically rather than assumed from either.

Security vulnerabilities in NetCast

Unverified

Firmware support status hasn't been confirmed for this model from a citable source yet.

What that actually means for your TV →

LG fully replaced NetCast with webOS starting with its 2015 TVs, and NetCast's app/content services are widely reported as defunct today, but no dated official LG end-of-support notice specific to NetCast or this model could be found. Stays unverified rather than assumed either way.
